Current Students

Rory Lazowski is the coordinator for the Learning Strategies Instruction program at James Madison University.  He also teaches a course in Strategic Learning for the Exceptional Education Department, is a staff member with Office Disability Services, and works with the Screening and Referral department at JMU.  He received his Ed.S. degree from Radford University and worked as a School Psychologist prior to coming to JMU.  At present, he is also enrolled the Assessment & Measurement Ph.D. program with research interests in academic motivation.  More specifically, these interests include the application of sound research methods and analytic techniques to design and evaluate educational interventions grounded in motivation theory.
Makayla Grays is a doctoral student in Assessment and Measurement and a graduate assistant in the Center for Assessment and Research Studies. She received her M.S. in Educational Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and B.A. in Psychology and Special Education from Augustana College. Her interests include college students’ motivation and learning outcomes, the measurement of achievement goals, and the use of mixed methods in motivation research.
Jeff Kosovich(@JeffKosovich) is an IES predoctoral fellow in the University of Virginia’s Educational Psychology: Applied Developmental Science program. He also received his Master’s in Quantitative Psychology from JMU and his B.A. in Psychology from Northern Illinois University.  Jeff received a 2013-2014 Carnegie Alpha Lab fellowship to conduct intervention research in through partnerships with community colleges. His research focuses on the theory, measurement, fidelity assessment, and application of motivation interventions in both the laboratory and field. He is currently involved in several randomized field studies of social-psychological motivation interventions across the U.S., including collaborations with researchers at Stanford University, U. of Maryland, U. of Wisconsin-Madison, and UC Irvine. Jeff is also a member of the Foundations of Cognition and Learning (FOCAL) Lab and the Motivation Intervention Design Lab (MIDL).
